Basic steps which can be followed when a networking device fails to function are simple. At the most these steps will solve the hardware issue and some static power issues. The first step is power cycle, nothing but restarting the device in other words turning the device off and turning back on. The next step would be unplug and replug the physical links, Unplugging the data cables and replugging it so as to make sure the physical connection is established properly. The last and the most effective step would be common for almost all hardware devices, Reset. Reseting the device clears all the settings or the data on the device and refreshes it to the default state. These three steps form the basic and the foremost important tries that can be made to fix an issue with any kind of a networking device.
