United States cuisine is something of a misnomer. The US does not have a cuisine rather, its cuisines are characterised by the huge diversity of foods, wide range of ingredients, and myriad styles of cooking. It is because of this that the cuisines of the USA differ from region to region, and are influenced by innovation, integration and centuries of  immigration. It is widely believed that a cuisine ought to have a core element that should be represented in many dishes, say, something like french sauces or Italian noodles. Following this philosophy has emerged a refined version of old Louisiana cuisine that is better known a s Cajun or creole.Cajun Cuisine is much spicier than typical french food as it relies heavily on the use of a sightly sweet red paprika. One of the most popular Cajun/creole dishes is Jambalaya, a modified paella, or biryani.

Southwestern food is styled after type cooking of the wild west. It comprises a fusion of recipes of Mexican, Native American, and ‘traditional’ American origins, and has made it a distinctive type of cuisine. It’s known for using fresh, garden-grown ingredients like corn, tomatoes, chillies, and cilantro. Where it veers towards Tex-Mex, the more common dishes are flatbreads like tortillas, and even fajitas.Chilies are traditional part of southwestern cooking, but that does not mean that the food would be necessary extra-spicy.Mild chilies like the poblano and Anaheim are hugly popular as are their hotter counterparts such as the serrano, cayenne, jalapeno, as well as the super-hot habanero and scotch bonnet.

Basque food, considered by many to be Nevada’s cuisine, is the fare of hard-working people, namely, the shepherds who had migrated to the American west in the 1870s from the basque provinces of the pyrenees mountains, and the cantabrian coast of northwestern Spain ans southwestern France. The food is simple and includes beef and lamb steaks, soup, crip salad, beans, spaghetti, bread and plenty of wine, all of which is doled out is generous portions. Garlic is the seasoning of choice. Beer flows evenly at  a typical basque bar.
