medical science technology and its career prospects
The Indian institute of technology – Kharagpur (IIT-K) offers a 3 year-professional post graduate programme in medical science and technology for medical graduates. This has tremendous career prospects. Innovations in technology have led to spectacular advancements in modern medicine. To meet the challenges posed by medicine in the 21st century the country needs a new breed of medical professionals who will be able to understand the fusion of medical science with technology and can bridge the two disciplines. With this philosophy in mind, the IIT-K established the school of medical science and technology in 2001. This is the first centre in India where the physicians are trained in technology in the time tested IIT system. The School of Medical Science and Technology also has a mandate to further research and develop technology as applied to medicine.
With the two fields merging rapidly there is a need for people who are qualified in both the disciplines and well versed in upcoming thrust areas for research. This programme will impart engineering skills to medical professionals and train them for state-of-art medical research in the frontier areas of medical imaging & image analysis, telemedicine & tele-surgery, bio-sensors & medical instrumentation, bio-markers & their applications in diabetes & oncology, reproductive biology, contraceptive development & infertility management, molecular biology & tissue engineering, preventive & primitive health care, comprehensive health information system for disease management, development of cancer drugs, bio-medical implants & devices, brain research & cognitive neuro-science, and nano-technology & MEMS in medicine. After the completion of this course, the medical professionals become well equipped to fill the void that separates medical sciences from advanced technology
Career in LG Electronics
The premise for at LG is if the company takes care of its employees , its performance will improve. Yet, just five years ago, LG India was losing 35% of freshers within a year of them loining the company. That number is now down to 5% and not one employee ear marked as core talent or in the successor group has left in the last one year. Behind this turnaround is a change in the basis of expectations from employees and the way they engage with the company.

Activities were introduced and processes were reoniened towards increasing inter- and intra-departmental interaction , promoting fun at work , providing instant reconition and improving work-life balance. LG was considered a tough place to work, especially at the branch level. People were slogging even on Sundays to meet targets. This workaholism ended when the HR imposed a blanket ban on employees working on Sundays.
