50 Cent hopes new album
50 Cent believes his soon-to-be-released album, Before I Self Destruct could make more impact than his debut record, Get Rich or Die Tryin”, even though it may not “sell as much”.
I had more time to work on this record. I usually put an album out every two years, so this is almost an additional year.” He added: “This record could potentially be the one to top Get Rich or Die Tryin”. I think it could impact as hard, but not necessarily sell as much.” The 33-year-old rapper adds that he was “being smart enough not to come down the track while the Eminem train is coming.”Eminem came out with Relapse in May this year, while 50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, will release his album this November. The star, who had also been a drug dealer once, says that gangster rap was still significant.
He says: “People are still living under these circumstances…. They ID with it because they have similar struggles or have experienced something similar. They enjoy it (gangsta rap) with a different intensity.”He feels that his style is unique, and that there is no need to tone it down its intensity because “if we just follow trends then we”re all doing the same thing.”
